Ross F. Baldwin Elementary

The Baldwin Elementary Library is a resource for our entire school community! The library is open 7:20 - 3:30 most school days. Students visit the library with their class every other week, and can also come at open check-out times for more reading material. Students in the Third through Fifth Grades can come at any time to self-select and check out. Parents are encouraged to create their own library accounts and may check out up to five items at a time. The library collection is carefully curated for the reading interests and educational curriculum of Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, which means we have a selection of almost 14,000 books that your child will love to read and learn from!

Parents, please come in to enjoy a cup of coffee, read a magazine, use the computers, and find the latest, greatest literature for your children.

Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a PTA-funded, online reading incentive program which enables students to read books and answer multiple choice questions on book content. The program keeps a record of books read, points scored, the number of questions answered correctly, and the reading level of books. The AR program boosts reading confidence and comprehension and strives to instill in every student a love for reading. AR is used in 1st through 5th grades as students become independent readers. Different grade levels will use the program as appropriate for their students.

Students who reach certain points levels will be recognized and awarded by Mrs. Murray and our librarian Sara Aragon during morning announcements. Points are counted and awards are given monthly. Cut-off dates for counting points falls on the FIRST FRIDAY of each month. School prizes are awarded for these point increments:

  • 10 points - 1st grade only
  • 25 points
  • 50 points
  • 75 points
  • 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, etc.
