Our teachers are always happy to meet with you to discuss your child.
First Class of the Day of School
At 7:30am, students will report directly to the classroom. If a student needs to eat breakfast, please have them report directly to the cafeteria and then to their class.
Cafeteria Drop-off and “Hug Zone”
Students Pre-K through 2nd graders: The main cafeteria doors will be closed and locked, students must enter through the door next to the gym. Parents will exit out the southwest gym doors facing the staff/visitor parking lot. Due to limited space in the cafeteria and gym, parents and visitor will not be permitted to talk their child to the class line. Upon entering the gym, there will be a designated “hug zone” to say good-bye and wish your child a great day. We will have members of our Baldwin Safety Patrol and/or staff members to escort your child to the class line (if they need assistance).
Students 3rd through 5th graders: Students will report to directly to their classrooms. Students will sit outside their classrooms while being monitored by staff. If a student needs to eat breakfast, please have them go to the cafeteria.
Morning Drop-off Procedures
Front doors off Meridian Park Blvd-
For safety of your children, please do not drop-off your child in the staff and visitors’ parking lot in front of the school. This is not a designated drop-off place. The parking lot is for staff and visitors only. We need parents and guardians to stay in their car when dropping off children. It is extremely dangerous when adults get out of the car and have students cross in front of cars. We have a cross walk in the circle drive; please do not stop on the crosswalk.
Back doors off Espina Dr-
The doors in the back of the school facing Espina Dr. will only be for bus riders and staff. These doors will remain locked at all times and will only be opened by staff to allow bus riders in the building. Espina walkers are asked to walk around to the front of the building or the side doors by the gym to enter the building. If you drop off your child on Espina Dr., he/she will need to talk around the building to enter through the front doors. If you walk your child to school, you will need to walk them around the building to enter through the front doors.
Afternoon Dismissal Pick-up Procedures
Front doors off Meridian Park Blvd-
Car Pick-up: Parents need to come through the front circle drive and stay in your automobiles until your child is brought to your car. We cannot have parents parking along the curb or getting out of the car to find their child. It is important to display the name card on your windshield with your child’s name and the teacher’s name. This will help us get your child to you faster as well as allowing the traffic to flow smoothly through the front circle drive. You can obtain this car sign from your child’s teacher.
Back doors off Espina Dr-
Students exiting from the back doors to Espina Dr. will be waiting in the gym with teachers until buses have left the premises. After buses have departed, our staff will walk students up to the back door and safely dismiss them. We ask that parents do not wait under the covered walk way at the back of the school. Parents please wait by the stairs above the staff parking. We have a staff member on dismissal duty to ensure safety of your child.
If you are walking up to the building to pick up your child you need to pick them up from the gym if they are in Kindergarten - 2nd or from the covered play slab area if in 3rd-5th grades.
For the safety of your child, we ask that you do not drop-off or pick up students from the portables. If a child is late or needs to be picked up early, please go directly to the office and follow the check in or out procedures.
Friday morning assembly
Every Friday morning, we have a school wide assembly in the cafeteria. All students Pre-K through 5th grade will report directly to the cafeteria/gym area to their designated class areas for assembly on Fridays only. We will start assembly promptly at 7:35am. During Friday morning assemblies, we need all parents and visitors to stand behind our fifth grade classes in the gym. Parents and visitors are welcome to enjoy Friday assemblies with us; however, we need all parents and visitors to give us the space needed for our children.
If your child arrives to school after 7:45am, please check-in at the office and sign the late arrival sheet.
When necessary to check your child out of school prior to 2:57pm, please sign the student out in the office. Office personnel will call the classroom and have the student sent to meet you in the office. Please be prepared to show your identification in the office. Teachers will not dismiss students without a call from the office. Students must remain in the classroom until they are checked out in the office.
There are minimal visitor parking spaces available in front of the school. Please do not park in the front or back staff parking lot. Our staff parking lot fills up quickly and some staff will be coming and going throughout the day. Please park only in designated spaces or on the street, not along the fire lane. Cars parked in fire lanes or no parking areas are subject to ticketing and towing.
Students who Walk to school
Students should cross streets only in marked crosswalks. Please DO NOT let your child cross between cars.
Cell Phone Use Prohibited
It is against the law to talk on a cell phone in a school zone. It poses an extremely dangerous and unsafe situation when driving around the children.
For the safety of all our student and staff please keep your furry friends at home during drop-off and dismissal.
All visitors who wish to enter our building must do so through our front entrance. Visitors need to ring the bell, identify themselves, inform office staff of the reason for their visit, and then be “buzzed in”. Visitors are required to report directly to the front office, bring in a form of identification and sign-in at the office. You will go through a normal security check and obtain a badge with your name and destination in the building. This identifies you and keeps students safe. Parents, teachers and students have been trained to ask you to go sign in if they do not see that you have a sticker and will not open any doors to visitors without it.
