Dear Parents of Baldwin Elementary,
I am filled with great excitement and anticipation as I look towards the 2016 – 2017 school year, my first year as principal of Baldwin Elementary School. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of such a great school. Baldwin is an innovative school with excellent students, teachers, and parents. Baldwin has many reasons to celebrate; including the child centered learning environment, the commitment to Social Emotional Learning, and the willingness to adapt to change.
As I begin the year, I want to invite you to help me learn as much as possible about our school’s strengths and unique characteristics as well as current challenges. Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” I invite you to be an active participant of the process by attending formal and informal gatherings, as I instill an open door policy.
With the vision of Baldwin Elementary we can anticipate facing an abundant amount of change with integrity. We will accomplish this together by keeping students the center of all that we do while supporting a curriculum that prepares students for the 21st century. Entering Baldwin Elementary as the new principal, I am aware that change can take on many forms. In order for this transition to be successful, I have developed a plan that encompasses the current mission statement and seeks to honor that vision.
A change in leadership can elicit a range of emotions. However, it can also be an excellent time to pause and take stock of where we are currently. In advance, I want to thank you for taking part in this process. I believe it will leave us closer as a community, continue to move us forward academically, and give us a clear path for the future.
